Podcast Pre-production.
Podcast Projection Plan and Research
In my podcast i hope to achieve the ability to make other people happy through the things we talk about. Id also like to strife to make my listeners comfortable and more confident. The purpose of the podcast is to make people smile, focusing on how smiling can effect your mental health in positive ways, helping to reduce stress and anxiety. The podcast will be for promotion towards the mental health charity Mind, this will also help to further peoples own knowledge on mental health. Hopefully we will be able to do this in a way that our audience will also find entertaining. The structure for the podcast is unknown as of now, but it may be unstructured so there is no direct script reading although we will most likely make some notes about the topics we could talk about or small prompts to use during the podcast.
Having produced a pilot episode of a Podcast, what did you learn from this experience? What do you think you did well through the pilot, and what needs to improve ahead of the Smile Campaign episode? This should relate to technical elements as well as your contribution to hosting the episode.
Through the experience of producing a pilot episode i found that i would not be making a radio drama for my second project. However, i did become better at using logic pro meaning it wont be so difficult this time around as my knowledge has furthered. I also learnt that relying on people isn't the best decision and should only be done when you know for sure that you can trust that person. Id also like to give myself more time to actually plan the podcast to a reasonable amount, reducing any stress the project might cause due o lack of communication and planning.
Having completed your target audience research, who is your target audience, and how do you hope to meet their needs through your podcast?
We have already completed our target audience research, finding that it will be 15-20 year olds that are more than likely to be taking part in further education and struggle with mental health. I hope to meet their needs through my podcast by showing that it is okay to be going through things that can sometimes feel impossible to escape, explaining that smiling can help if it is given the chance to, allowing them the small outlet for the stress they deal with.
What constraints do you anticipate throughout the project, and how do you hope to overcome these?
Because i have learnt from the mistakes i made in my last podcast, i don't expect many constraints. However, some could be managing time better to make sure we have the recording studio when we need it. They could also be under preparation, meaning we will have to put in the effort in order to make sure everything has been checked over to be appropriate and interesting while also staying on topic.
